Breaking new ground at Parallel Windsor

Fifteen young people from Prior's Court took on challenge events at this year's Parallel Windsor – a “festival of inclusivity” – with five participants going the extra mile (or 5km to be precise!) in completing the 10k challenge for the very first time.

Held on Sunday, 6 July, Parallel Windsor featured a series of inclusive challenge events tailored for individuals with a range of disabilities. The day included fun runs from 100m to 10k, as well as the Super Sensory 1k.

This marked the third consecutive year Prior's Court partnered with the event, with 15 young people also having taken part in both 2024 and 2023.

While the 5k race is typically the standard distance for participants from Prior's Court, this year saw five young people stepping up to the 10k challenge - marking the first time Prior's Court has been represented in the event’s longest race. Alfie, Amar, Brandon, Peter and William all completed the event's longest distance. For Alfie and Brandon, this achievement follows previous successes in events like the 5k at Dorney Lake in 2024.

This year’s participants were Alfie G, Amar, Anton, Brandon, Daniel E, Imprahim, James T, Joe G, Louis S, Lyla, Oliver P, Peter, Ryan, Toby, and William S. The group took part in Parallel Windsor in support of the Fun and Recreation Appeal, which helps fund enriching experiences for young people at Prior’s Court - such as visits to summer fairgrounds, fireworks displays, and Santa’s grotto.

A collective fundraising target of £1,500 was set for the group with more than £1,300 raised so far.

Natalie Norris, Fundraising Manager at Prior’s Court, said: Parallel Windsor is a double win for the young people we support. It's a fun community event, and it lets them contribute to fundraising for new facilities that will directly benefit them. This event is a chance for young people from all backgrounds to show support for the charities that enrich their lives. By participating, young people from Prior's Court get the same chance to give back to their community."
