The Marist School Race for Life 2025

Published on isbi School News dated Monday 23rd of June 2025

On Saturday 31 May, the Marist team took part in the Race For Life 2025 at Windsor Race Course. The sun shone, the rain stayed away, and they all got covered in lots and lots of mud.

The Marist have been taking part in R4L since 2006 and it wouldn’t be the same without the incredible support of our students, staff, families, and wider community who come together year after year for such an important cause.

Since participating, The Marist Team have raised over £100,000 for Cancer Research UK whose research has transformed the treatment of cancer and enabled countless people to go on to lead a full and healthy life.

This year we would like to shoutout Bebe in Year 11 for raising £670, Harsimran in Year 7 for raising £680, and Romy in Year 12 for raising £712.

Well done to everyone else who also raised money for this amazing cause.

This year, we raised a staggering £5362 and we cannot thank those who have donated enough.

Below is a report written by Year 12 students Romy and Ceri about their experience, alongside photos from the day:

The Marist has proudly stepped-up every year since 2006 in an effort to beat cancer by taking part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life. Taking part in various events, ranging from 10K to the most popular “Pretty Muddy” 5K, each year we come together to raise money to join the fight against cancer, with us raising over £5000 this year. This exciting and meaningful event allows students, teachers, parents, and siblings to come together in support of life-saving cancer research—all while having a great time together.

The Race for Life is not just about raising money—it’s about creating a memorable experience for everyone involved. The event is filled with laughter, encouragement, and school spirit. We dress up in vibrant costumes, paint our faces pink, and cheer each other on as we walk, jog, or run our way around the school grounds. Whether participating in a 3K route, trying out the “Pretty Muddy” obstacle course or cheering from the side-lines, the event is bursting with energy and fun. Teachers join in the festivities too, often dressing up in silly outfits or taking part in friendly competitions with their students, with one of the best parts including us plastering the teachers in mud.

Beyond the fun, the event has a powerful message. Each participant is encouraged to run for someone they love, pinning heartfelt messages to their backs in memory and support of loved ones fighting cancer. These personal touches make the day both uplifting and meaningful. Our involvement not only raises important funds for Cancer Research UK but also teaches us the value of compassion, teamwork, and resilience. It’s a chance to celebrate life, build friendships, and show that young people can make a real difference.

With its perfect blend of fun and purpose,  The Marist’s Race for Life event is one of the highlights of the year—and a testament to the school’s strong community values.

Please join in the fun next year and look out for messages from Mrs Bishopp and the PE Department!
