St James Senior Girls’ School is delighted to celebrate the achievements of its pupils in both GCSE and A Level examinations this summer. Students, families, and staff came together to mark a year of academic excellence, personal growth, and resilience.

At GCSE, pupils demonstrated exceptional progress across all subjects, with results including 45% of pupils achieving at least one Grade 9 (A**) and over a third of grades at 8 or 9 (A*-A**). With 55% of results graded 9-7, many pupils excelled beyond expectations.

These impressive outcomes reflect the breadth of St James’ curriculum and the school’s commitment to helping each young woman discover and pursue her passions.

Head, Emma Bell, said: “I could not be prouder of our pupils. It is wonderful that St James pupils have achieved more than double the percentage of grades at 9-7 (A**-A) than girls achieved nationally. However, it is always the individual successes, often not evident from statistics, that bring the most joy. I am so happy for our Year 11s.”

Amirah D reflected: “My GCSE experience was a lot less scary than I thought it would be. It felt like not only my teachers and friends, but the whole entire community were supporting me.,” while Kaira R added: “The school was really helpful, and they took us through the exam process really well. I'm staying at St James next year and I'm super excited.”

At A Level, leavers celebrated achievements across a wide range of subjects, with 30% of students securing at least one A* and 38% of grades awarded at A or A*; well above the national average. Remarkably, 93% of leavers have gained a place at their first-choice university. More than one-third of results surpassed statistical targets, demonstrating the exceptional value added by a St James education.

Among the individual successes were:

  • Shreya P, heading to King’s College London to study Social Sciences

  • Zelda S, pursuing English at the University of Edinburgh

  • Lilli M, preparing to study Law at Royal Holloway

  • Anjali S, accepted to Oxford University to study Sanskrit

Reflecting on her St James journey, Shreya shared: “I’m thrilled to have secured my first-choice place. The St James community has meant so much to me, and I’ve learnt to be resilient and open to new experiences.”

Head, Emma Bell, praising both cohorts, said: “We are so proud of our pupils at every stage of their journey. Their courage, resilience, and enthusiasm for learning reflect the heart of our school. These results highlight not only academic excellence but also the diversity, creativity, and spirit of our community. At St James, we encourage our young women to ‘speak the truth, live generously, and aim for the best,’ and it is wonderful to see those values carried forward into their next chapters.”

The majority of Year 11 students will continue their journey into the school's Sixth Form, where they will be supported to further develop their talents and ambitions. For Year 13 leavers, destinations include leading UK and international universities, with subjects as diverse as Sanskrit, Natural Sciences, English, Law, and Liberal Arts.

St James Senior Girls’ School congratulates all students on their achievements and thanks families, staff, and the wider community for their support.
