Pupils enjoyed a workshop with a Carnegie Nominated Author

Published on isbi School News dated Monday 22nd of October 2012

Year 8 and the Gifted and Talented Students were treated to a fantastic Creative Writing Workshop lead by Carnegie nominated writer Annabel Pitcher. Year 8s were intrigued by Annabel's first novel 'My Sister Lives on the Mantle Piece' and were inspired to design a new front cover for the novel after hearing just the first chapter and were extremely excited when they found out the author herself had been invited to join us.

Annabel used a variety of techniques to warm up the students' minds, ready to write, including acting out a spooky scene with help from lots of keen volunteers. All of the students produced an excellent opening to a spooky story by the end of the session.
