Claremont Fan Court School celebrates GCSE success and sixth form centre expansion

Hot on the heels of last week’s outstanding A level success, where half of all A levels were graded A or A*, Claremont is celebrating once more today – our Year 11 have also achieved record outcomes for the school, with 56% of GCSE results graded 7 or above (A or A*).

The morning was full of excitement with a sense of both relief and joy as our pupils received their GCSE results and could finally confirm their next steps in learning.  To add to the buzz, Claremont has enlarged the sixth form centre by 50% this summer. Little wonder the atmosphere was so joyful with Year 11 pupils, their families and teachers gathered in the mansion to celebrate such impressive results.

William Brierly, head, commented:

I am immensely proud of this cohort. Their first experience of Claremont was during Covid, yet they have studied with diligence and purpose throughout the last five years. They deserved these great outcomes, and I am thrilled for them. These students are immensely ambitious for their next steps of learning and we cannot wait to see them progressing into our enhanced sixth form experience.”

Claremont’s sixth form moved to its current location in 2019, with a modern space designed to support and inspire the growing sixth form. Our cohort is bigger now, and having already prioritised increasing subject options, individualised support, specialist advice and academic ambition, the building itself will feel markedly bigger this September.

James Grabowski, previously head of house at King’s College School, Wimbledon, takes the reins as head of sixth form and looks forward to leading the next stage in Claremont’s sixth form journey. The sixth form will comprise around 200 students in September (across the two years), but Claremont has always taken care to grow for the right reasons, prioritising small class sizes, a breadth of subject choices, opportunities to enrich learning and shape each individual’s learning journey while always focused on ambitious outcomes; little wonder everyone is talking about Claremont.
