Sir William Perkins’s School Rowers strike Gold for GB and win Silver in their England call-up

Sir William Perkins’s School (SWPS) is celebrating a remarkable summer of rowing success, as several of its athletes earned national and international honours and delivered standout performances on the global stage.


British Rowing Championships 2025


SWPS enjoyed its most successful outing at the British Rowing Championships, securing:


Gold in Women’s U18 Coxless Four, U18 Pair, Senior Club Pair, and U18 Quads (composite with Wallingford RC).


Silver in the Women’s U16 Pair.


The Under 14 Double finished just one foot off bronze, marking the school’s best-ever Year 9 result.


GB vs France U16 Match


Three Year 11 students – Jasmine, Isla, and Carmella – represented Great Britain in the Women’s Eight (composite with Wallingford RC), winning gold at the 43rd GB vs France Match.


England Rowing Team – Home International Regatta


Two SWPS Rowers, Annabelle and Maddie, were selected to represent England. At the Home International Regatta, they competed in the U18 Pair and U18 Eight, winning three gold medals each.


Anna Cowell (former pupil) and Kathryn Burton (former coach) were selected for the Senior Women’s Pair and Eight. Racing proudly in SWPS colours they won gold in the Eight.


World Rowing U19 Championships


SWPS student Emily N was selected for her second U19 World Championships, held in Trakai, Lithuania, where she won silver in the Women’s Double Sculls with partner Catherine G.


Chris Boddy, Head of Rowing at SWPS, coached the GB Women’s Quad, who won bronze medal at the event.


Chris Boddy added: “To see our current students and alumni achieving at this level is incredibly special. It reflects years of hard work and the strength of our community – from athletes and coaches to families and supporters.”
