Celebrating Dr Nasser’s contribution to environmental education

At Sir William Perkins’s School (SWPS), we are proud to celebrate the achievements of our staff, who not only inspire in the classroom but also contribute to important conversations shaping our world.

We are delighted to share that Dr Nasser, Teacher of Biology at SWPS, has co-authored a chapter in the newly published volume Environmental Education: Ideas and Experiences from Brazil and the UK (British Council & King’s College London, 2025).

Dr Nasser’s chapter, Centring justice in secondary schools: Implementing a cross-curricular sustainability project, explores how schools can embed climate education across subjects. By placing justice at the heart of sustainability teaching, the chapter emphasises how young people can be empowered not only to understand environmental issues but also to take meaningful action with responsibility and awareness.

This cross-curricular approach shows how every subject – from Science to the Humanities – can play a role in developing students’ understanding of climate change and global sustainability challenges.

At SWPS, we believe education is about preparing students for life beyond the classroom. Contributions like Dr Nasser’s highlight the powerful role schools can play in shaping responsible global citizens who are ready to make a difference.

As a school community, we are proud of this achievement, which serves as a reminder of the impact that collaboration and shared expertise can have in building a more sustainable future.
