We are delighted to announce that St James Senior Boys’ School has won “School Trip of the Year” at the Independent Schools of the Year 2025 Awards.
Hosted in central London by The Chelsea Magazine Company, publishers of Independent School Parent magazine, the awards celebrate excellence and innovation across the UK’s independent education sector. St James was recognised for its transformative approach to school trips, which form an integral part of the school’s holistic and values-led education.
Head, Mr Rick Clarke, commented:
“At St James, we believe in Aristotle’s view that educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all. Our trips are not just about travel; they are moments of transformation. This award recognises our commitment to helping students grow in courage, curiosity and character.”
The St James trip programme is designed to inspire self-discovery and resilience through a wide range of experiences, from residential adventures during Activities Week and cultural immersions across Europe, to mountain expeditions and endurance challenges such as the Nijmegen Marches and the Camino de Santiago.
Whether climbing 4,000-metre peaks, engaging with philosophy in Athens, or working together on creative challenges closer to home, students are encouraged to step beyond the familiar and develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their peers, and the world around them.
This award is a proud moment for our entire community, reflecting the vision and dedication of our staff, and the enthusiasm and determination of our students.
