RMS Eco Committee Achieves Eco-Schools Green Flag Status for Third Consecutive Year
Published by RMS for Girls on Wednesday 8th of October 2025
We are thrilled to announce that the RMS Eco Committee has successfully attained the Eco-Schools Green Flag status for the third year running, a remarkable achievement that underscores the school's deep commitment to environmental stewardship.
The RMS Eco Committee is a passionate group of students from across the Senior School and Sixth Form who share a common desire to enhance the school's care for the environment. Meeting every Tuesday lunchtime, the students plan events, develop initiatives, and actively seek ways to incorporate environmental awareness and action throughout the RMS community, from integrating ideas into academic subjects to improving our physical grounds.
The Committee's hard word has led to several impactful initiatives including:
- Trout Conservation: Supporting local aquatic eco-systems.
- Wildlife Monitoring: Using cameras to track and learn about our on-site wildlife.
- Sustainable Events: Organising popular clothing swaps to promote resource reuse.
- Biodiversity Learning: Regularly visiting and tending to our on-site Bee Hive to learn about the vital role of pollinators in our ecosystem.
The Eco-Schools Green Flag is a fantastic way to acknowledge and celebrate the ecological achievements of young people. Furthermore, it provides them with the confidence and motivation needed to continue actively engaging with and addressing environmental issues during the time in school with their peers, as well as throughout their lives. We're proud to be a forward-thinking school that actively promotes youth-led environmental education and action.
Congratulations to every member of the RMS Eco Committee for their dedication to leading our school toward a more sustainable future.
