JPS Book Awards for 2025 officially launched, bringing together eight schools—including Crawley Down, Albourne Primary, Copthorne Prep, Dorset House, Holy Trinity CE Primary School, Balcombe School, Ditchling, and West Hoathly—in a celebration of reading, imagination, and student voice.
Each school will explore a shortlist of five compelling titles, chosen to spark discussion and inspire young readers. Pupils will read, reflect, and share their thoughts before casting their votes to decide the winner. Shortlisted books include:
- The Boy With Big Decisions by Helen Rutter
- Murder at Wintertide by Fleur Hitchcock
- The Game I Will Never Forget by Onjali Q. Rauf
- The Forbidden Atlas by Sam Sedgman
- Gloam by Jack Mackay
Throughout the term, schools will host reading groups, creative activities, and book-themed events to engage pupils with the stories. The initiative not only promotes literacy but also encourages critical thinking, empathy, and collaboration.
Voting will take place once all books have been read, with every pupil having a voice in selecting the winner. The results will be revealed in a celebratory event that brings together all participating schools.
