Celebrating Diversity and Heritage on Culture Day

On Friday 10th October, Kingham Hill came together to celebrate Culture Day, a special occasion to honour and learn more about the people, places, and traditions that shape our community.

The day began with an engaging assembly led by Mrs Balinski, joined by pupils from Spain, Germany, China, and the USA. Together, the school reflected on how culture influences our daily lives and the way we see the world.

Invited to dress in clothing representing their home nation or family heritage, pupils and staff showcased a vibrant array of outfits from across the globe. At break time, pupils then marked their family connections by placing stickers on a world map.

Head, Mr Last, reflected on the importance of culture: “One could argue that culture is what makes us human; that golden thread connecting Shakespeare to Stormzy, Monet to Love Island. It’s the collective expression of who we are. Culture matters because it shapes us, even in the most ordinary moments. Let’s celebrate the people and places that mean so much to each of us!”

The event was a joyful reminder of Kingham Hill’s global community, where shared stories, heritage, and experiences bring pupils and staff together in learning and collaboration.
