Visit to The Design Museum

Published by St Helen's School on Tuesday 2nd of December 2025

Recently, our Year 11 Design Technology GCSE classes had the opportunity to visit the Design Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London. The main purpose of the trip was to gain inspiration and a deeper understanding of design processes, materials, and innovation.

The day included a Design Museum workshop where the girls worked in small groups to explore and brainstorm thoughts on some well-known products including some by Philippe Starck.

Later in the day the V&A Museum provided different insights with its examples of design from different time periods and cultures.

Student, Aanya told us - "The visit gave me a valuable insight into how successful designers balance practicality with creativity which is something I aim to reflect in my final design. "

Thank you to Head of DT, Natalie Walshe and the teaching team for facilitating this great trip.
