Ellesmere College Celebrates Outstanding Social Value and Duke of Edinburgh Achievements

Ellesmere College is proud to announce its recent Social Value Certificate, recognising an incredible 2,548 hours of volunteering completed by our pupils this year. This commitment to service equates to a social value of £16,307, reflecting the College’s ethos of community engagement and responsibility.

Alongside this achievement, Ellesmere continues to lead the way as the largest provider of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Shropshire, offering exceptional opportunities across Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels. This term, we are delighted to celebrate eight Year 13 pupils who have successfully achieved their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award:

  • Chris Astbury

  • Lily Harris

  • Harry Underhill

  • Theo McAndrew

  • Isabella Moore

  • Jonathan Evans

  • Joe Holton

  • Oliver Harrison

Their success contributes to an impressive total of 50 Gold Awards over the past three years, a testament to the College’s commitment to challenge, character and opportunity for all.

During the final assembly of term, these pupils were presented with letters of recognition ahead of attending the official Gold Award Ceremony at a Royal Palace in 2026. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our pupils for their dedication and resilience, and to the staff whose unwavering support makes these programmes possible. The skills gained through the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award—leadership, teamwork, and perseverance—are invaluable foundations for success in life.

We will look forward to 2026 and many more of our pupils taking up this challenge!
