A year-long charity partnership between Prior’s Court and Donnington Grove Golf Club has come to a close on a high note - raising a tee-rific £10,089.04 so far, with a few more hundreds of pounds still expected to be added to the total.

Throughout the year, club members and visitors took part in a range of fundraising activities that were right on par, including raffling off the charity parking space at the course, the captains’ drive-in event, and a captains’ charity day team competition - won by a team featuring Prior’s Court's own Healthiness Instructor Chris McQuilkin

Other events included a ladies’ day, quizzes and bake sales, along with donation points set up in the club’s bar, pro shop and hotel reception.

With the theme of the partnership focused on fun, Donnington Grove members certainly didn’t miss their shot at making a difference to the lives of autistic young people with complex needs while keeping spirits high both on and off the fairway.

At a gala event on Saturday, 25 October, a cheque for £10,089.04 was presented to Prior’s Court - but with a few final donations still to come in, the total looks set to rise even further.

Funds raised through the partnership will support Prior’s Court’s Play Equipment appeal.

Aimée Hoyle, Prior’s Court’s Corporate and Community Fundraising Lead, said: “We are so grateful to the members of Donnington Grove Golf Club for their incredible efforts over the past year, especially Ladies’ Captain Sarah Jolly who has been incredible.

“Not only has the club raised a fantastic amount through their fundraising events, but they have also shown genuine enthusiasm and interest in learning about the work we do at Prior’s Court. And they’ve worked with West Berkshire businesses to – to get holes at fundraising events sponsored – so have spread the word about our work there too.

“Their support will make a real difference to the lives of the young people we support – because play is not only important for fun but also  for regulation, managing sensory needs and developing fine motor skills, the money they have raised will make a difference to the young people at Prior’s Court every single day. -  and we can’t thank them enough for being such great sports throughout this partnership.”

Sarah Jolly, Donnington Grove Golf Club Ladies' Captain, said: “We are delighted to have had such a successful year fundraising for Prior’s Court.

"I would like to thank all the club members who have been so generous and made this a brilliant charity partnership. We are thrilled the money will be going to such a worthy cause and I can’t wait to visit to see the impact we have had.”
