Carols at Stowe

Published by Stowe School on Wednesday 10th of December 2025

The Stowe Chapel welcomed over 850 guests for Carols at Stowe, a traditional service of lessons and carols that has become a highlight of the festive season. The congregation included Staff, Parents, Governors from The Stowe Group schools, Old Stoics, National Trust volunteers, and members of the wider community.

Guests enjoyed mulled wine and mince pies before 120 singers from five choirs, representing Stowe, Ashfold, Swanbourne House, Winchester House, and the Stowe Choral Society filled the Chapel with music. Soloists opened with the first verse of 'Once in Royal David’s City', followed by choral pieces, congregational carols, and scripture readings delivered by pupils and Heads of each school.

The Chaplain’s message encouraged making space for Jesus amid the busyness of Christmas, with the candlelit Chapel and Christmas tree lights symbolising hope and light. Thanks go to the Choral Directors, Music Administrator Jane Horwood, and Head of Security Paul Simkins for ensuring this joyful celebration was a great success.
