Five former Millfield rugby players have been selected for this year’s Six Nations tournament by their respective countries.
Huw Jones, Josh Bayliss, and Adam Hastings will represent Scotland, while recent leavers Steffan Emanuel and Evan Morris, who left Millfield in 2024 and 2025 respectively, have been selected for the Wales U20 squad.
The Six Nations is an annual international rugby tournament contested by England, France, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, and Italy. The competition runs for seven weeks, with teams playing across five rounds of matches. The tournament finishes with the iconic Super Saturday on 14 March, when all three final-round games are played back-to-back, ultimately deciding the championship title. Last year France were crowned champions after a fiercely contested campaign.
John Mallett, Millfield’s Director of Rugby and former Bath and England prop said “The excitement is building for the upcoming Six Nations. We are delighted to have representatives in the Scotland Men’s team as well as the Wales U20 team (OM Steffan Emanuel has been named Wales U20 Captain). During this time of year in the rugby calendar, the attention always turns to international rivalries. Our current rugby players will be cheering for their heroes, and the coverage will inspire the next generation of talented rugby players.”
The appointment of Old Millfieldian Steffan Emanuel as Wales U20 Captain is a particularly notable achievement, reflecting both his leadership qualities and the strength of Millfield’s rugby development pathway.
Lots of Millfield alumni are playing or have played international rugby. This includes players such as Sir Gareth Edwards, Chris Robshaw, and Jonathan Joseph. Millfield continues to celebrate the success of its alumni and remains committed to developing future players capable of competing at the highest levels of the game.
