Impressive performances at A Level and GCSE Music Recital
Published by St Mary's Calne on Thursday 5th of February 2026
On Tuesday 3 February our GCSE and A Level Music students took to the stage for their annual recorded recital, an important component that forms a significant part of their final examination. The evening showcased their technical skill, as well as the musical maturity and commitment they have developed over the past two years.
The programme opened with Joanne C on her cello, performing Minuet by Boccherini, Morolayo A followed with Marie’s La Cinquantaine, also on cello. Alice S sang a gentle account of Billy King’s A Lullaby for You, while Emi W delivered a lyrical performance of Ballade pour Adeline by Paul de Senne on the piano.
Isobel B brought clarity to the Allegro from Kuhlau’s Sonatina in C, before Oladara F on saxophone, captured Elgar’s Chanson de Matin. Hannah M’s sensitive playing of Debussy’s La fille aux cheveux de lin was beautifully atmospheric.
Alice S and Isobel B came together for their ensemble piece, The Last Rose of Summer, sung with technical assurance and great balance.
The recital concluded with Mia T’s flute performance of a lively Rondo by Mozart, followed by the more reflective Triste by Telemann for her A Level recording.
The evening was a real success and would not have been possible without the support of our accompanists, Mr Mark Sandon-Williams and Mrs Bethan Dudley Fryar.
We congratulate all our students on their excellent performances and thank our school community for coming together to support and celebrate their hard work.
