Tales of Adventure and Creativity with Sam Sedgman
Published by Kingham Hill School on Thursday 29th of January 2026
On Wednesday 28th January, we were delighted to host the much-anticipated visit of author, Sam Sedgman. Admired by many of our staff and pupils, Sam quickly captivated his 1st to 3rd Form audience with his infectious enthusiasm and adventurous storytelling, weaving together mystery, science and engineering.
He offered a fascinating insight into the life of a writer, drawing on his own inspirational travels, research and creative process. Sam encouraged budding authors to let go of the pressure to be “creative,” explaining that this can often lead to generic stories. Instead, he urged pupils to write about the subjects they are truly nerdy about, allowing what makes them unique to sit at the heart of their storytelling.
The visit concluded with many new fans eagerly queuing for signed copies of his books. Sam’s latest novel, The Galileo Heist, is due for release on Thursday 12th February and is sure to be highly anticipated by our school community.
