State-of-the-Art Teaching Kitchen to Develop Culinary Skills

Published by Tudor Hall on Sunday 8th of February 2026

All girls at Tudor develop their culinary skills in our state‑of‑the‑art teaching kitchen, with opportunities ranging from the @leithseducation Professional Cookery qualification in the Sixth Form, to @hesterscookeryclub for the IIIs upwards, and food & nutrition lessons beginning as early as Tiny Todd.

The Leith’s CTH Level 3 Extended Certificate in Professional Cookery is an advanced, hands‑on qualification for Sixth Form students, equivalent to an A‑level. Accredited by the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH), it carries 12-36 UCAS points and is ideal for those considering a future in the food industry or wanting to develop high‑level culinary expertise.

Clare Harding, Head of Food & Nutrition, shares, “Whether the girls pursue the formal Leith’s qualification or simply enjoy creating Hester’s weekly recipes, they all develop a genuine love of food. They gain a deep understanding of sourcing ingredients, planning menus on a budget, managing time, and presenting dishes beautifully. And what better place to build confidence than in our exceptional teaching kitchen, complete with individual cookery stations and a wealth of commercial‑grade equipment.

“Many OTs go on to careers in the food world, from food science and independent restaurants to innovative online food ventures. Cooking is a life skill that will support the girls long after they leave Tudor.”
