Early university offers at SWPS: global pathways and personalised success

As the early application cycle draws to a close, we are delighted to be celebrating an exceptional set of university offers for our Year 13 students so far.

This year, 100% of SWPS students invited to interview for Oxford and Cambridge received offers, across a range of highly competitive courses including Medicine, Linguistics (Cambridge), Biology, English and PPE (Oxford). These outcomes represent a remarkable achievement for our students and reflect the academic ambition embedded within our Sixth Form.

Alongside this success, we are equally proud to share a growing number of international, and Russell Group offers, highlighting the breadth of pathways being pursued by our students. For the third consecutive year, a SWPS student has secured an offer from Princeton University (USA) with financial support for rowing. Students have also received excellent offers from McGill University (Canada) and the University of Toronto, including a generous scholarship.

Together, these destinations reflect a Sixth Form that prepares students not for a single definition of success, but for a wide range of future possibilities.

A Sixth Form built for depth, not pressure

At SWPS, Sixth Form is not about acceleration or overload. It is about creating a cohesive, purposeful and deeply supportive experience, where academic ambition sits alongside structured guidance, subject enrichment and personalised mentoring.

Our approach is rooted in the belief that students thrive when they feel clarity in their direction and confidence in their ability. Curriculum, enrichment, skills development and careers guidance are carefully aligned to ensure students experience a connected journey, rather than a series of disconnected demands.

This structure enables students to develop not only the intellectual confidence required for competitive university applications, but also the resilience, independence and reflective thinking needed to thrive in higher education and beyond.

Personalised pathways and the three A Levels model

Central to this success is our Three A Levels model, which prioritises depth of learning and genuine subject engagement. Students are supported to build strong academic foundations whilst also exploring wider academic thinking, super-curricular interests and reflective discussion.

Rather than following a one-size-fits-all route, students shape individual pathways aligned to their strengths, interests and aspirations – whether that leads to Oxbridge, Russell Group universities, overseas institutions or specialist courses.

Expert subject teaching is complemented by tailored mentoring, interview preparation and academic guidance, helping students develop confidence in their thinking and clarity about their future choices.

Looking ahead: future pathways in action

Whilst our Year 13 students celebrate their early offers, the next generation is already beginning their own journeys. Year 12 students are actively exploring future pathways, engaging in university research and developing subject interests through enrichment and super-curricular opportunities.

Aspiring medics and vets have also gained valuable real-world experience, including placements at St Peter’s Hospital, supporting students to make informed, confident decisions about their future careers.

These experiences reflect our commitment to world readiness – ensuring students are not only academically prepared, but also socially aware, reflective and equipped for life beyond school.

 A shared success

These early offers reflect what happens when high expectations are matched with thoughtful structure and individual care. We are immensely proud of our students and the dedication they have shown throughout their Sixth Form journeys.

As they approach their final examinations, we wish our Year 13s every success and look forward to seeing the many different paths they will take – confident in who they are, what they value and where they are heading.
