Chaoyang Experimental Primary School Immersion
Published by St Lawrence College Junior School on Monday 2nd of February 2026
St Lawrence College was delighted to welcome visitors from Chaoyang Experimental Primary School in Beijing as part of our long-standing partnership, which continues to offer pupils valuable opportunities for cultural exchange and international learning.
Each year, pupils from Chaoyang join the College for a full academic year within our Junior School. This term, we were also pleased to host an additional group of 23 pupils from Years 5 to 7 for a week-long immersion experience, designed to give students a meaningful insight into British school life.
During their time at the College, pupils were fully immersed in lessons alongside their peers, experiencing a traditional British classroom environment and taking part in everyday school routines. In the Junior School, this included hands-on activities such as baking, as well as opportunities to explore learning across a range of subjects.
The visiting pupils also enjoyed a variety of sporting activities, including bench ball and a cricket workshop, giving them the chance to experience sports that form a key part of life at St Lawrence College. These sessions encouraged teamwork and confidence across year groups.
As part of the week, pupils took part in a special book reading led by a local illustrator, who shared her newly published book celebrating Lunar New Year. The session provided a thoughtful moment of cultural reflection and exchange, recognising the importance of shared traditions and storytelling.
Immersion experiences such as this play an important role in strengthening international partnerships and helping pupils develop global understanding and independence. St Lawrence College remains committed to offering immersive opportunities for overseas pupils and schools, and warmly welcomes enquiries from partners interested in short-term immersion programmes or longer-term study.
We look forward to continuing our partnership with Chaoyang Experimental Primary School and to welcoming future groups to the College in the years ahead.
