Bishop's Stortford College welcomes author Kirsty Riddiford

Published by Bishop's Stortford College Prep School on Thursday 29th of November 2012

Kirsty Riddiford, author of The Prophecies of Ballitor trilogy, spent a morning with pupils at Bishop's Stortford College Junior School, sharing her top tips for writing and showing them a manuscript copy of her latest book. The pencilled in revisions demonstrated to the children that it is not just teachers who think correcting and editing is an important part in writing stories!

Kirsty was thrilled to meet forty of her young readers and hear their views expressed so eloquently about their latest reading choice, Ben and the Book of Prophecies, in the Form 1 and 2 lunchtime book club meeting. Nine year old James Finch said "the brilliant descriptions made you want to keep reading on", whilst ten year old Arthur Sullivan liked the fact that the book contained two quests going on at the same time.

Pizza in the library and lively debate on this new author's novel - what could be better? Commenting after the visit, Kirsty said: "Authors spend a lot of time by ourselves, so when we come out of our writing caves it's very important that we're met by smiling, friendly faces. Fortunately for me, there was no shortage of friendly faces at Bishop's Stortford College! A big thank you, especially to the Book Club for some truly lovely comments and highly constructive feedback on Ben and the Book of Prophecies. It was fantastic to meet so many avid readers and I was thrilled that so many of you had enjoyed the book!"
