We are incredibly proud of Agata, one of our boarders, who has been named a finalist in the Polish edition of the European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS), one of the country’s most prestigious competitions for young researchers.

Agata’s project, Project ReMind, explores an innovative hypothetical gene therapy model for Alzheimer’s disease. The research investigates a potential dual mRNA therapy targeting beta-amyloid and TAU protein aggregation which are two key processes associated with the disease. Her work was recognised as one of the top 20 young scientific research projects in Poland.

Speaking about the experience, Agata said: “I had the opportunity to present it at the Finals of the Polish edition of the European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS), a stage reached by only 20 projects nationwide each year.”

She continued, "Inspired by the growing global burden of Alzheimer’s disease and the limitations of current symptom-focused treatments, the project explores a future direction for more targeted, disease-modifying therapies."

The competition provided Agata with the opportunity to connect with fellow young scientists and researchers and has already opened doors to further discussions with research institutions in Poland.

This is a fantastic achievement and a wonderful example of the ambition and academic excellence fostered at Chigwell School. Congratulations, Agata!
