St Benedict's Junior School has an Eco Song! Jess Gold and Haruna Komatsu, members of the group Planet Earth which specialises in Eco Concerts, ran a morning song-writing workshop for ten budding musical stars from the Junior School. Their remit was to create and record a song that would help promote the targets that are contained in the school's travel plan. They focused mainly on encouraging people to leave their cars at home and walk, cycle or scooter to school. In the afternoon they gave a concert to showcase the new song that they had written, with the aim of teaching the Junior School the St Benedict's Eco Song called 'A New Trend'. Evan Hobson was on drums, Finlay Carty-Howe on trumpet, Harry Lubkowski on flute, Jack Edis on piano and Duncan Ashby on xylophone. The singers were Isabella Pye, Zoe Rutherford, Camilla McCosker, Imogen Gurton and Bettina Dow.
Organiser Becky Machin said, 'The children thoroughly enjoyed the day. Hopefully the Eco message at St Benedict's will go from strength to strength now we have a song to promote it.'
