Year 12 pupils explore the future of technology, AI and startups with industry experts
Published by Chigwell School on Wednesday 22nd of July 2026
Year 12 pupils gained valuable insight into the rapidly evolving world of technology, artificial intelligence and startups during an inspiring careers talk featuring professionals working at the forefront of the industry.
The session welcomed back two Old Chigwellians, Sam Dooley (Class of 2012), Go-to-Market at Anthropic, and Zain Parvez (Class of 2021), Entrepreneur in Residence at Entrepreneurs First’s The Bridge by Entrepreneurs First, who joined the event online alongside Ushen W, a software engineer at Entrepreneurs First.
Drawing on their own career journeys, the speakers shared first-hand experiences of working in sales, software engineering and the startup ecosystem. They discussed the impact of AI on the future of employment and society, as well as the skills and qualities that can help young people stand out when applying to university and beginning their careers in technology.
Pupils engaged enthusiastically throughout the session, asking thoughtful questions about university pathways, entering the tech sector and the opportunities available within this exciting and fast-moving industry.
The event provided Sixth Formers with a valuable perspective on the changing world of work, and the range of careers open to them beyond Chigwell. We are incredibly grateful to our Old Chigwellians for returning to share their expertise and inspire the next generation of pupils.
