Ratcliffe College students celebrate GCSE success

Year 11 students at Ratcliffe College are celebrating GCSE examination results, with over 40% of all grades awarded at 7–9. Students and staff came together to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the 2026 cohort, who have demonstrated exceptional resilience and determination throughout their studies.

This year’s results underline the College’s dedication to the highest standards of teaching and learning. Ratcliffe students continue to significantly outperform their peers in the maintained sector, with the number of passes at grade 7 or above in many subjects twice the national average, reflecting the College’s commitment to excellence.

Headmaster, Mr Jonathan Reddin, commented

Today we celebrate the achievements of our Year 11 students, whose GCSE results reflect years of dedication, perseverance and ambition. We are delighted to see their hard work rewarded and are grateful to our teachers and parents for the guidance and encouragement they have provided throughout the journey. Beyond the grades themselves, these young people have demonstrated remarkable character, maturity and commitment, qualities that will serve them well in the years ahead. We congratulate every student on their individual achievements and look forward to supporting many of them as they continue their educational journey in our thriving Sixth Form.

Among a cohort filled with success stories, several students achieved truly exceptional outcomes. John Bowden attained a phenomenal eleven grade 9s and one grade 8, while Ben Kay secured an outstanding nine grade 9s and two grade 8s. Romilly Ellis and Daisy Hailes also deserve special recognition for achieving results consisting entirely of the highest grades, 9s and 8s. We are equally proud of Natalie Bogus, Lucy Markham, Odera Munonyedi, Jia Popat, Hannah Simon and James Spencer, whose consistently excellent performances saw them achieve a remarkable suite of grades at 7 and above. Their achievements exemplify the talent, perseverance and aspiration that define this exceptional year group and serve as an inspiration to those who follow in their footsteps.
