> FACT 2: The RMS Titanic was built in Belfast. It was built by the company Harland & Wolff in the Belfast docks and on completion, it measures 882 feet - making it taller than the world’s tallest building!

> FACT 3: The Game of Thrones headquarters are in Belfast. They are located in Titanic Quarter just a few metres away from the Harland and Wolff shipyard. There are also many other Game of Thrones locations throughout Ireland, including the North Wall and Dark Hedges.

> FACT 4: Belfast’s Obel Tower is the tallest building in Ireland, coming in at 85 metres. It’s 27 floors and cost £60 million to build. Obel Tower sits on the river Lagan and has a bar, making it an excellent spot for a drink with a view! 

> FACT 5: The seahorse is the symbol of Belfast as a nod to its maritime history. It originated in the 17th century as it was printed on early coins by merchants. Nowadays you can find two seahorses on Belfast’s coat of arms! 

> FACT 6: CS Lewis was born in Belfast! The natural beauty surrounding Belfast is said to have inspired his works of The Chronicles of Narnia. 

> FACT 7: The first performance of Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin was played at Ulster Hall in 1971. 

> FACT 8: The Europa Hotel, located on Great Victoria Street is the most bombed hotel in the world. It has been bombed a total of 36 times. This was mainly due to it being the hotel that reporters would stay at during the Troubles. The hotel suffered as people became scared of staying there. However in 1994 Bill Clinton and his guests stayed there, sparking interest once more. 

> FACT 9: In the 1800s Belfast became known for its linen production. In fact it became so famous for it that Belfast was known as Linenopolis! 

> FACT 10: The Belfast motto is “Pro tanto quid retribuamus” which means “we received so much, what can we give in return”. It’s taken from Psalm 116 verse 12 in the Latin Vulgate Bible.

>  Belfast To Lisburn: Lisburn  is about 9 miles by road from Belfast via the A513 and driving to the centre of Lisburn from Belfast normally takes under 20 minutes.  There is a very regular train service to Lisburn from Belfast, with trains taking from 45 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes to get to Lisburn. 

>  Belfast To Ballymena: Ballymena is about 26 miles by road from Belfast via the M2 and driving to the centre of Ballymena from Belfast normally takes under 40 minutes.  There is a very regular train service to Ballymena from Belfast, with trains taking from 1 hour 1  hours 10 minutes to get to Ballymena.

>  Belfast To Mainland England: Flights leave from Belfast airport (BFS) twice a day to fly to Manchester, with a journey time of 55 minutes. There are also regular flights to Glasgow (GLA), London Heathrow (LHR) and London Gatwick (LGW).
