Word From The Head

Head Photo

From Jon Reddin, Headmaster

We are delighted that you have shown a keen interest in Ratcliffe College. As a Catholic Rosminian, co-educational, day and boarding school for students aged 3-18, we are much more than just a school; we are a family-orientated community committed to the transformation of young minds, hearts, bodies and souls, in the pursuit of all-round excellence.

At Ratcliffe College, we believe in Encouraging Big Ideas, and with an outstanding team of staff working in close partnership with parents, we nurture young people’s God-given talents, to help them achieve their full potential in the classroom and beyond.

Our main intakes are into Nursery, Years 3, 5, 7, 9, 10 and Sixth Form, but we occasionally have places in other Years. It would be wonderful to welcome you here in person, to meet our students and staff, and to share with you why we are all so passionate about this remarkable school. The most important thing for us and our parents, is to see happy and healthy children. Happy children are receptive, productive children, who will enjoy learning and growing in the fullest sense – which is exactly what we are about.

Our mission is to educate young people in the spirit of the Gospels, within a community based on love and kindness, striving for excellence, inspired by our School motto, 'Legis Plenitudo Charitas: Love is the Fulfilment of the Law.'

We look forward to welcoming you to Ratcliffe College.

Open Days, Visits & Events

20-09-2025 - Open Morning

9.30am-12pm
Our twice-yearly Open Mornings take place during September and March each year, these public events are really useful if you are looking to get a taste of the college, tour the grounds and speak to teachers. These events are relaxed and informal and provide the opportunity to ask any questions you might have and pick up any important information you might need.

You can attend the Headmaster’s speech, join a current pupil who will provide a tour of the buildings and grounds, meet the subject teachers and then round it all off with a nice hot drink and a snack in our fantastic refectory. You will also find the Admissions Team on hand to answer any queries regarding the application process as well as the Senior Leadership Team and Parent Association who will also ensure we get all bases covered for you.

We would strongly advise you book online as these events can get very popular.

We look forward to welcoming you to Ratcliffe College.

02-10-2025 - Sixth Form Open Evening

Our next Sixth Form Open Evening will take place on Thursday 2nd October 2025, 6.30pm. Bookings are now open - we would love to see you there!

Year 3 Parent

We are so delighted with the amount of teaching time you are giving the children. Our daughter has finished her school day as a very happy young lady!

My daughter joined Year 9 at Ratcliffe College in February 2018. I was initially worried if she would adapt to the UK boarding life, as this was her first time studying abroad. She found the staff and boarders friendly, helpful and caring and settled in well to boarding life at Ratcliffe within the...

Mrs M, Spain

Our daughter Inés was boarding at Ratcliffe when she was 14. She was going for 1 academic year but ended up staying for 4! From the start, she was welcomed into the community and we knew she had a second home. The Staff are very kind but have high expectations, protecting and looking after our...

Mrs O, Nigeria

What I feared most when my husband and I thought of sending our daughter Ihuoma to a boarding school abroad was my 13-year-old daughter, going through her teen years without a mother figure close. My fears quickly melted away when she returned after the first term and recounted how the senior...

Nursery Parent

I think you've got the balance of work totally right. Our daughter enjoyed her first day back but it wasn't overwhelming in any way.
