Word From The Head

Joanna Wright

As Head of King Edward’s Witley, I passionately believe in creating transformative educational and pastoral journeys where every pupil is noticed, not merely seen… is listened to, not just heard… is empowered, not simply enabled.
United by Diversity since 1553, our global outlook and individualised approach to learning is both reassuring and life changing. King Edward’s provides the warmth and opportunity for growth and ambitious learning within a community that is proud to be kind, unprejudiced and positively future facing. Our School succeeds in combining academic ambition with a wealth of socially and emotionally enriching opportunities, all underpinned by a deep commitment to the needs and enthusiasms of each pupil.

Guided by values of compassion, kindness and authentic connection, we work to develop all important ‘human’ skills alongside rigorous and individualised academic learning, placing great emphasis on fostering positive relationships, open communication, and an agile mindset. We lay the groundwork for our enthusiastic, curious and kind pupils to travel through life with skill, confidence, creativity and resilience – always thinking deeply and listening well.

We support pupils in their understanding of the principles and values that will shape their lives and how they choose to present and conduct themselves beyond school life. I am proud to say that they are our greatest ambassadors – the responsible leaders, inventors, creatives, entrepreneurs and employees of all our futures.

I warmly invite you to visit our School to experience first-hand what makes King Edward’s, it’s pupils and staff so special. Open Mornings and Personal Tours are hosted throughout the year, and our pupils who will be your guides on the day will be delighted to share their personal journeys with you.

I greatly look forward to welcoming you to King Edward’s.

School Reviews

Muddy Stilettos

That caring Christian ethos is still at the heart of the school today. And values like kindness, empathy and compassion alongside a sense of fun are most often used to describe the school in pupil and parent surveys.

Muddy Stilettos

Parents are attracted to King Edwards for a number of reasons. The beautiful setting is a selling point, as is the all-rounder offering of sports, music, arts and academic, and the mix of students from all over the world. But it’s the pastoral care that is most highly valued.

ISI inspection

Inspectors applauded the school’s welcoming, socially diverse and multi-cultural environment, saying that students “fully espouse the school’s maxim of ‘united by diversity’; it is their lived experience.

Josh Andrade, Lower School House Master

Queen Mary House is a vibrant, happy House that aims to provide every pupil with a broad learning experience in and out of the classroom. We motivate them all to work and play hard, as well as embrace new challenges and opportunities.
