Clubs Take Off at Dauntsey’s

Published by Dauntsey's on Monday 4th of October 2021

From Computing to Cookery, Bee Keeping to Badminton, Rookie Lifeguarding to Rock Band, Dauntsey’s extensive programme of clubs and activities is in full swing this term. With more than 80 different activities on offer, pupils up and down the School are able to try something completely new, as well as work on improving an existing hobby or skill.

The Clubs fall into three broad categories:

Academic and extra-curricular. Options include Debating, Chess, Drama, Languages, Dance, Cookery, Art and History or Geography lectures from visiting speakers

Sports and adventure. Clubs provide extra coaching in all the sports you would expect, but also in some more unusual activities including Archery, Street Dance, Fencing and Equestrian, to name just a few. Further adventure can be found on Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, the Devizes to Westminster canoe race, the Brecons Challenge and the Expedition and Mountaineering Society.

Music. These activities come in all shapes and sizes, ranging from the large Symphony Orchestra, through to Chamber Choirs and down to much smaller ensembles such as rock bands and the Percussion Ensemble. With so many different musical groups rehearsing, and several concerts each term, there is rarely a quiet moment in the Music school.

Mark Lascelles, Head Master, Dauntsey’s, said:

“Dauntsey’s prides itself on offering a huge range of Clubs and Activities that provide enrichment and breadth to the academic curriculum. Be it Dungeons and Dragons or discussing Human Rights at the Amnesty International Club, there is most definitely something for everyone.”
