Year 1 Enjoy Trip to Town Hall

On Friday 7 January, Year 1 enjoyed an outing to the Town Hall Theatre to see a version of Julia Donaldson’s Stick Man. It was an exciting morning for the girls, starting by taking a coach from EHS to the centre of Birmingham.

The girls loved the production, seeing Stick Man come to life with his ‘stick lady love and his stick children three!’

They watched with intent as Stick Man was parted from his family by a dog thinking he was just a stick to play with. Stick Man had to avoid being caught by the dog, played with as a ‘Pooh Stick’ by the little girl, being a flag to go on top of a sandcastle, amongst other things!

The play culminated in Santa Claus coming to the rescue and flying Stick Man back to his family in the old sycamore tree.

After the performance the girls enjoyed a picnic lunch back in their classrooms and in the afternoon they made their own Stick family to remember the performance by.

An enjoyable day was had by all!
