Kingswood Wins Philosothon Competition at Monkton Combe

What's a Philosothon? The Philosothon competition seeks to promote – in a spirit of mutual respect and friendliness – critical thinking, questioning and reflection. The competition follows a Community of Inquiry model which sees students - spanning four rounds - placed in groups alongside pupils from other schools, wherein they reflect on, and respond to, topics and themes explored in pre-selected texts and literature.

Thought provoking questions were raised and explored throughout the evening. The competition concluded with an awards ceremony, which saw Ivor, George and Niamh receive the Best Philosopher Awards in Years 9, 10 and 13. Furthermore, given the collective performance from all of our students, Kingswood were announced as the Overall Winning School! On the back of this success, Kingswood will attend the National Final, to be held at Stowe School in March.

Mr Thatcher wishes to praise every member of the team for the respect, commitment and skill shown on the night; they were deserving winners and we look forward to preparing for our next Philosothon outing at Stowe!
