House Cross Country Relays

Published by Kingswood Senior School on Wednesday 18th of May 2022

Last Tuesday over 130 runners represented their houses in the house relays. In glorious sunshine and in front of an excited crowd, runners from all years ran hard on the tough 2km course. In the Westwood races the Year 7 boys and girls races were won by Phoenix, while in the Year 8 boys race records were broken as Mulberry beat Phoenix and the school record by a minute. In the Year 8 girls race Phoenix were victorious and the victory handed Phoenix the Westwood title overall.

In the Inter Boys races Middle came in comfortably ahead of a tight finish for second which saw Upper in and then Hall. Whilst in the Senior Boys two strong legs from Rob and Jacob saw Hall victorious by a minute over Middle and Upper.

In the Inter Girls races Summerhill A finished first ahead of School A and Summerhill B, whilst in the Senior Races School A finished first ahead of Fonthill A with Summerhill A in third. However, due to objections raised about School and Summerhill fielding Year 11 runners in the wrong race (Year 11 are Senior runners in this event) Fonthill’s intermediate teams default to victory.

This event, however, is never about the winning. It is about individuals battling against the hill for their team and their house. So a huge thank you to all who took part, to all who supported and to all the staff marshals who made it possible.
