Kingswood pupils break a number of School records

Published by Kingswood Senior School on Thursday 7th of July 2022

We have been fortunate to compete at some beautiful school tracks against some of the best competition in the South of England this term of which a number of students achieved top places and personal bests.

One stand out performance at an inter-school meet held at Marlborough College was a fantastic run by Year 13 student, Grace, who broke the 1500m school record which has stood since 1985. Speaking about her achievement, Grace commented, "I am so delighted to have broken this longstanding record in my last year at school".

In addition, Joseph and Charlie, both in Year 9 have each broken two school records.

Joseph has been lighting up tracks with his phenomenal sprinting all season. His 200m is mightily impressive and his 100m time has placed him amongst the top group in all of Kingswood!

Charlie often challenges himself and competes against those in the next age-group category. His progress in both distances this season has been incredible. His first 1500m time of the season was a 4.46.28 which over the season he progressively got down to 4.26.40! Charlie has just recently represented Avon in the English Schools South West Athletics Championships. He came first in the 800m competition with a time of 2.07, making him the fastest 800m runner in the South West region. This result qualifies him for National Championships, and we wish him well as he now goes on to run against the top 16 runners in the country in a couple of weeks at the Nationals in Manchester.

A huge congratulations to everyone this term for their hard work and determination!
