Guest Performers Visit EHS
Published by Edgbaston High School for Girls on Tuesday 6th of December 2022
Each week at EHS, the Senior School has a Music Assembly where students get the opportunity to perform to the wider school community. This week, we were extremely lucky to welcome two guest performers from Birmingham Royal Ballet. Principal Dancers César Morales Anderson and Miki Mizutani presented the Grand Pas de Deux (Act II) from The Nutcracker.Watching and listening to professional artistes is vital in supporting the pupils in their performing arts training. The skills developed by pupils in these areas are multifaceted and will be used in a number of ways throughout a student’s time at EHS and beyond and there are many instances in the school year where EHS pupils will perform alongside professional artistes. On this occasion we were witness to a masterclass of performance presentation not to mention athleticism and perfection with regard to self-expression from two performers of the highest international calibre who are working at the very top of their profession.
I would like to express my thanks to Mrs Ehiogu and Mr Berman for giving up time on Sunday to prepare the floor for the performance and to students Zoha, Jessica and Amelie assisted with the delivery of the assembly. The tech team did a wonderful job of lighting the performance and Mr James was on hand to take some wonderful photos of the event.
