Safer Internet Day

Published by St James Senior Boys' School on Friday 10th of February 2023

This week marked Safer Internet Day, here at St James we held activities around safer internet use in form time each day. This is a worldwide event, last year 170 countries took part with over 3400 organisations in the UK taking part. The theme this year was, ‘Want to talk about it?’

The week began with a whole school assembly about the importance of talking about time spent online, both positively and negatively. We highlighted the wonderful aspects of online activities but also some of the dangers, and where students can go if they have concerns.

In form time a number of different activities were enjoyed, which included a bingo game, drama, class discussions, paired games and videos about being safe while on the internet. Students were also encouraged to create a video of no more than one minute, saying what safer internet means to them. Here are examples and guidelines of how your son can do this.
