Meet Our Badminton Sensation

Published by St David's College on Thursday 9th of November 2023

The tournament was hosted by Badminton Wales and Amelie, who plays for Wales, entered the Under 17 girls’ singles and Under 17 girls’ doubles

“I managed to win all my matches up to the final where I came runner up in the Under 17 singles,” said Amelie.

“I won the girls doubles with my partner who also comes from my club in Deganwy, and I think we play very well together.”

Amelie continues: “I love competing and feeling excited when I have a tournament, but I also feel nervous when it's time to play my matches.

“Very quickly though I just enjoy my games and I like a hard match that challenges me. “Overall, it was a challenging tournament but am pleased with how I did and am looking forward to future tournaments coming up.”

Not to be outdone Amelie’s, big brother, Oliver, also plays for Wales.

We wish Amelie all the best for this weekend, as it’s the Welsh National Squad selection weekend. Good luck Amelie and we couldn’t be prouder of you!
