Strathallan Prep School pupil Will D decided to try something new this year! He added basketball to his list of activities and helped his team the Denver Nuggets become Eastern Conference champions at this year’s Scottish Jr. NBA Festival 2023.

Despite having no prior experience in competitive basketball, Will's determination and talent quickly contributed to his team’s competitive edge, an experience he relished.

“I’ve only been playing for 10 months but it felt so good to win. Our teamwork was great and we played well together. I’m proud of our team,” said Will.

Emma Lalani, Head of Strathallan Prep, said, “We are incredibly proud of Will. He has gone out of his comfort zone to pursue a new passion. We are excited to see what he does next.”

Will’s skill on the court appear to run in the family, as his older sister Olivia D, who plays for Scotland U15, was named one of Scottish Netball’s Ambassadors, alongside former pupil Chloe McM earlier this year. She also recently took part in the World School Netball Games with Strathallan’s 1st VII squad, coming home with 3rd place in the plate competition after a fantastic season with the schools U15 squad.
