Nelson Charity Week
Published by Tormead School on Saturday 22nd of November 2025
Nelson House spent a week raising money for a very worthy local charity, the South West Surrey Domestic Abuse Service and themed their activities around the phrase, ‘Be Happy, Be You!’.
On the Monday, everyone wore non-uniform and had to wear odd socks for the fun of it. On Wednesday, the teachers entertained a paying audience with some wonderful karaoke including a couple of girl bands, an aging boy band, a solo from Mr Breslin and a marvellous rendition of ‘Defying Gravity’ from the Music Department. It ended with the audience joining in with a rousing performance of ABBA’s ‘Dancing Queen’ and everyone leaving happy! Additionally, there was a dance session and a movie night as well as, during breaktimes on three occasions, there was a bake sale and a sale of 3-D printed items such as happy emoji faces and mini Stanley cups which proved very popular. Pupils also made whole cakes to order for lucky members of Tormead staff including a showstopper and a Disney-themed cake by special request. Reviews from the staff were very positive indeed.
