Wiltshire Junior Choir of the Year Trophy Goes to St Margaret’s Calne!

St Margaret’s Calne Chamber Choir has been named Wiltshire Junior Choir of the Year 2025 at the prestigious Devizes Eisteddfod.

The choir won the Under 11 class by singing Jonathan Dove’s ‘Fire’ from ‘Seasons and Charms’ and a traditional South African song called ‘Siyahamba.’

The eight-day festival celebrating creativity across music, drama, speech, dance, and art featured 529 performances in 130 classes, with around 320 young performers showcasing their talent in both competitive and non-competitive events.

Prep School Head, Alex Hopkins said: “This is an exceptional accolade, and we could not be prouder of every child involved. Their commitment, teamwork, and musicianship shone through brilliantly on the day, and it is wonderful to see their talent recognised so publicly.”
