Jolly the Giraffe

Giraffes are important at Spring Grove! Jolly the Giraffe is the school mascot who comes to assembly every Friday and is awarded to the School House with the most House points that week. Not to be outdone, our Nursery children recently created Jolly the Giraffe - an entry in the local Scarecrow Festival in Wye, Kent.

The children embraced lots of practical learning - collage sticking for Jolly's SG blazer and furry spots; sponge painting for Jolly's skin, and scissor skills to cut out his ears, legs and arms. There were lots of opportunities to practice fine motor skills, hand and eye co-ordination, engage in collaborative play; and develop concentration and communication skills. It was a really great team effort, and the children loved seeing Jolly on display in Wye Church.
