Wales Lacrosse Training Day

Cheam was buzzing with excitement during the last exeat as pupils from Years 5–8 took part in a special Wales Lacrosse training day held right here on our grounds. The session was led by members of the Wales Lacrosse team, who generously spent the day coaching, demonstrating skills, and giving pupils a real insight into what it’s like to train as an international athlete.

The sun finally made an appearance, making it the perfect setting for pupils to get stuck into a new sport. From fast-paced passing drills to the thrill of shooting on a goalkeeper, the children embraced every moment. For many, it was their first taste of lacrosse; for others heading to senior schools where the sport is played, it was a great chance to get a head start and build confidence.

The Welsh players also shared their journey as they prepare for the upcoming World Championship in Tokyo, Japan this July. They are currently fundraising for the tournament, and the children were fascinated to hear about the dedication, teamwork and commitment required to compete at the highest level.

The entire day was filled with energy, enthusiasm and lots of smiles. Pupils left inspired, tired in the best way, and eager to pick up a lacrosse stick again soon. It was a truly fantastic experience, and we are incredibly grateful to the Wales Lacrosse team for giving our pupils such a memorable opportunity.

A brilliant day of sport, sunshine and inspiration – well done, Cheam!
