Meet the team behind the first edition of The Eye

The Eye, our student-led History and Politics journal, is a celebration of the sharing of ideas. The first edition is out now and reflects the passion, insight and intellectual curiosity of our students, bringing together thoughtful writing and diverse viewpoints. The publication is the culmination of months of planning, editing and collaboration between the team of Year 12s whose idea it was to create the journal.
In his foreword, Tom G said: “The sharing of ideas is a cornerstone for society, even more so when they are diverse in their opinions and structure. We hope this publication relays the importance of listening to both converging and contrasting ideas. History can often be seen as a distant subject, one in which it is difficult to find connections to the modern world; but we believe that this collection of essays enforces all that is brilliant with History and the vigour and swagger to which history has painted its stroke across the world, from great battles to simple conversations. The breadth of historical and political knowledge, and more importantly appreciation, is a testament to this.”
Essays in the first edition cover a wide range of topics and issues, from democracy and global governance, to data access and voting rights.
