Raising the Bar in Athletics

Published by Farleigh School on Wednesday 24th of June 2026

What a superb week of athletics for Farleigh… Beginning with a glorious home meet last Friday where we were blessed with perfect weather and welcomed strong competition from Cheam, Embley, Perins, Port Regis, Twyford and Yateley Manor. Our pupils rose brilliantly to the occasion, delivering outstanding performances throughout the day and securing an exceptional 20 gold, 16 silver and 10 bronze medals, earning Farleigh the title of overall boys’ and girls’ winners.

On Wednesday, our senior athletes travelled to Bournemouth for the Senior Wessex Championships, where they competed with tremendous grit through a dramatic mix of sunshine and torrential rain. Their determination shone through as they achieved 8 gold, 9 silver and 3 bronze medals, with a standout moment from Margot, who set both a stadium and school record in the high jump with an incredible 1.47m clearance.

Congratulations to everyone who competed; you were amazing! Special congratulations to our medallists. All those who placed 1st qualify for the National Finals in Birmingham on 1st July, and based on their times, so do Basti, Billy and Isla who placed 2nd.
