Canford celebrates outstanding A level results and outcomes

Canford school pupils have achieved excellent A Level results across the board with 25% of all grades at A* and 87% at A* to B. This compares with 9.7% at A* and 55.8% A*-B nationally. 

Amongst many amazing results for the whole cohort there were some particular achievements of Canford school pupils this year include: 

• 16 pupils (11%) achieving all A* grades 


• Two sets of twins achieving 13 A* between them 


• A pupil receiving a Conservatoire scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music & Drama 


• Several pupils securing prestigious places at US universities including two pupils securing 100% sports scholarship awards to Drexel University and the University of Texas 


• One pupil who has been offered an apprenticeship at Dyson and a place at the University of Cambridge to study engineering.

We have invested significantly in the Sixth Form at Canford, including outstanding new teaching and residential facilities, which provide even greater opportunities for collaboration, independence and leadership, helping our pupils bridge the gap between school and the wider world.” 

The majority of Canford school leavers are choosing to head to university with 88% of places to Russell Group/Sunday Times Top 12 institutions, including places confirmed at Oxbridge. From a highly aspirational set of offers, 90 pupils are moving on to their first-choice university destination. Those who aren’t heading to university include pupils who have accepted places at prestigious creative arts institutions, apprenticeships, and at international universities. This reflects the increasing variety of paths that Canford pupils embark on after leaving school and is testament to the school’s commitment to ensuing its pupils are genuinely real world ready.
