The Peterborough School celebrates best ever GCSE results
Published by The Peterborough School on Monday 21st of September 2026
Students at The Peterborough School enjoyed a morning of smiles and celebrations as they collected the School’s best ever GCSE results with a record numbers of top grades.
Nearly 50% of all grades awarded were at Grades 9 to 7, compared with 22% nationally. Particularly impressive was the proportion of Grade 9s achieved, with pupils at The Peterborough School securing the top grade at almost three times the national rate.
Individual successes include Sophia Oliver, who achieved nine Grade 9s, a Grade 8, and a Grade 7. Milo Deem also achieved seven Grade 9s, and one Grade 8. Sophia will study Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths, and Milo will study History, Spanish and English Literature at A Level.
Congratulations also go to Joshua Godwill-Otobo, who achieved six Grade 9s, two Grade 8s, and two Grade 7s; Sarah Gwashawanhu, who achieved four Grade 9s, four Grade 8s, and two Grade 7s; and Zacharia Choudury, who achieved four Grade 9s, three Grade 8s, and two Grade 7s.
We are also delighted for our Year 9 and 10 pupils who sat GCSEs early with 88% at Grades 9-7.
The School’s new Headmaster, Sam McCormick, was delighted for the Year 11 students: “I am incredibly proud of our Year 11, who have produced such outstanding results. I am particularly pleased to see such fantastic results for a year group with so many talents: from the sports pitches to lead roles in productions, and Grade 8 [AM3] musicians, Year 11 have thrown themselves into everything TPS has to offer.
I am looking forward to welcoming them into Sixth Form this September for an exciting two years ahead.
Thanks must also go to our staff who have helped our pupils secure such superb results. Their commitment to supporting our young people through a personalised approach is at the heart of what we offer at The Peterborough School.”
