Word From The Head

Ellesmere College is a leading co-educational boarding and day school set in the beautiful Shropshire countryside. The 150 acre campus on the outskirts of the market town of Ellesmere provides an exceptional environment in which to learn. The school is rich in history but has a firmly forward thinking and progressive outlook.

We are down to earth, but with a sense of ambition and a genuinely holistic approach

There is a refreshing balance between academic challenge and character development. We believe the very best academic results are achieved when pupils enjoy coming to school each day and for this reason pupil wellbeing is central to all that we do. We are small enough to ensure that every pupil is known and nurtured, but large enough to provide a vibrant and dynamic environment.

Ellesmere provides countless opportunities for students to find their niche outside of the classroom, whether it is playing in an orchestra, competing on the sports field or completing the Duke of Edinburgh awards.
Ultimately, we want all our pupils to be equipped with the skills, character, and the sense of responsibility to make a difference in whatever path they take in life.

If you wish to find out more, I would encourage you to see Ellesmere College for yourself. I would love to meet you in person or even online to discuss whether Ellesmere is the place for your son or daughter.

Lorraine Evans: Parent to Todd, Zoe and Melissa

We feel Ellesmere has encouraged our children to grasp every opportunity and make the most of life. They have all made a very strong set of friends who have continued to support each other through the new stages of their life and we all have some very happy memories to look back upon. Ellesmere has...

Ellesmere has made a huge contribution to the success that my children enjoy. I ask my children to do their best, no more, no less. Ellesmere has helped them achieve more than they ever thought possible.

Emily Palmer- Student

My parent first heard of Ellesmere as a highly recommended boarding school for military children. As we looked for a school that pushed students further both academically and outside of the curriculum, Ellesmere ticked all the boxes. Then on my taster day everyone was so welcoming and friendly, I...

Ben Hall - Student

I was introduced to Ellesmere College at a higher education evening at The Corbet School where I realised that Ellesmere far exceeded other sixth forms. I was nominated for, and won, the Silver Cross Academic Scholarship, which was created by Mr. Alan Halsall, himself an Old Ellesmerian. I know...

Ruoqi Lin - Student

When I started at Ellesmere, I was quite nervous on my journey to school. Everything would be a brand new beginning for me. But thanks to the warm hearted teachers and students, I got used to the foreign environment quickly. When I meet a difficulty, the teachers are reliable friends - they...
