St Christopher has been co-ed since its foundation in 1915. It has always been noted for its friendly informality, breadth of educational vision and success in developing life-long confidence. There are over 500 pupils from 2½ to 18, with boarders from age 11.
The School provides for children from average to outstanding ability. We seek to challenge and develop mind, body and spirit. We offer 21 courses to AS/A level with excellent facilities for science, technology and the creative and expressive arts.
The library and teaching areas are linked by computer networks. An ICT Centre was opened in 2004. Learning through experience is important for all ages through Outdoor Pursuits, language exchange visits, long-standing international links in Ladakh, Rajasthan and Kosovo, and active self-government. The school holds the DFE International Schools Award, Eco-Schools Award and Arts Council Artsmark Gold award.
We are a tolerant community. There is concern about international and environmental issues; the diet is vegetarian. People of different religions, and of none, feel equally at home.
Our homely boarding houses are co-educational, with a newly refurbished Sixth Form House. Boy and girl boarders are admitted at ages 11-13 and directly into the Sixth Form. We have long experience with children whose parents are overseas.
