St Columba's is an independent, non-denominational day school for children aged 3 to 18. We are one of Scotland's highest achieving schools, nestled in the beautiful town of Kilmacolm, near Glasgow. Here, we prepare our young people for the world in a warm and welcoming atmosphere where each pupil is known and recognised as an individual.

Word From The Head

Mrs V Reilly, Rector

Welcome to St Columba’s School, a highly successful day school at the heart of the Inverclyde countryside.

Here children can grow and mature in a safe, healthy and nurturing environment, whilst developing the skills, confidence and resilience to prepare them for today’s rapidly changing society.

Positive relationships and inclusivity are at the heart of our culture. Our children are known by name and their individual strengths are fostered by our highly-qualified, professional and caring staff. Through our broad range of academic subjects and extra-curricular activities, we hope that all children will discover their personal talents and fulfil their potential.

We aspire to excellence in all that we do and aim to instil curiosity and a genuine love of learning. Our exam results consistently place us among the highest achieving Scottish independent schools, allowing our pupils access to the top universities in the UK and beyond. We also regularly celebrate regional, national and international representation in sport, music and debating. This culture leads our pupils to positive destinations and I never fail to be impressed when hearing of the exciting careers enjoyed by our global former pupil community.

Our core values of integrity, compassion and aspiration are central to the day-to-day running of the school and provide the framework for our vision for our future. We are committed to building on our success; to ensuring that our pupils have every opportunity to compete at the highest level and to providing the high-quality pastoral care needed to support the pressures of modern living.

I hope you will come to visit our school and give us an opportunity to demonstrate what we can offer you.

Open Days, Visits & Events

24-03-2025 - St Columba's Open Week - 24th to 28th March

This March we are throwing open our doors and inviting families with children aged 3-18 (Early Years to Sixth Year) to discover what it means to be a Columban. Our Open Week is a great opportunity to book a personalised tour and have a private meeting with Mrs Reilly (Rector), Mr McKay (Depute Rector – Junior School), or Mrs Corbett (Head of Early Years). You and your children can experience our school firsthand, have your questions answered by our staff, and connect with our pupils.

Book your Open Week Visit
You can select your preferred day between Monday 24th and Friday 28th March and choose from the appointments available. Once you choose your slot, one of our admissions team will be in touch to take information about your child or children and their interests to ensure we tailor the visit to you.

Please start by selecting which part of St Columba’s school you are interested in visiting (if you are interested in places for multiple children, please select for the oldest child). If you have any questions, please email us.
