British Lion coaches Oakham's rugby players

Austin Healey, one of the finest rugby players of his generation, visited Oakham to coach the school's 1st and 2nd XV teams.

As well as being a Leicester Tiger, Healey represented his Country as an English and British Lion. During the session, he had the chance to team up with his former Tigers teammate, Glenn Gelderbloom, who is now Oakham's resident 1st XV coach.

During his training afternoon, he ran a decision making session and showed the players 'how it should be done'. All of the pupils who took part thoroughly appreciated the opportunity to learn first-hand from his experience.

Ian Smith, Oakham School's Director of Rugby, knew Healey from his time as coach at the Leicester Tigers. He said, 'it was great to see two of my former charges putting a new generation of Oakham players through their paces'.
